The Kansas basketball team will face its second straight matchup against a top 20 team when the Jayhawks travel to Texas Tech to face the Red Raiders.

Texas Tech lost to UCF on Saturday, a team KU lost to earlier in the season. Kansas is fresh off a win against BYU in the 1,000th game in Allen Fieldhouse history.

Even though the Jayhawks have a five-game winning streak, the storyline will be a familiar one going to the game against Tech. Darryn Peterson, after a sensational first half versus BYU, pulled himself from the game three minutes into the second half. He sat stoically on the bench as the Cougars made a strong comeback bid. Fortunately, the Jayhawks held BYU off to secure an eight-point victory.

At this point, who knows if Peterson will play against Texas Tech, and if he does, how many minutes he'll be able to give his team? Luckily, his teammates picked him up, especially Bryson Tiller, who scored 21 points and grabbed seven rebounds. Over the last couple of games, Tiller has been much more aggressive, and it has paid off productively.

Projected Kansas starting lineup vs. Texas Tech

As usual, Peterson's availability against the Red Raiders is unknown. It is remarkable how the rest of the Jayhawks have improved their play without him and have adjusted to the distraction of is constant state of being injured.

  • Darryn Peterson (maybe)
  • Melvin Council Jr.
  • Tre White
  • Bryson Tiller
  • Flory Bidunga

If Peterson doesn't play, look for Jamari McDowell to start the game, with Elmarko Jackson and Jayden Dawson coming off the bench.
