The Kansas basketball team survived a game without head coach Bill Self at the helm and a scrappy Colorado squad that wouldn’t go away. Self missed the game due to an illness and did not make the trip. Kansas legend Jacque Vaughn led the Jayhawks from the bench in Self's absence.

Darryn Peterson injured his ankle against Colorado. It is unknown if he will be available against the Wildcats or how effective he might be. He looked good until he rolled the ankle in the second half, and only scored on one three-pointer after the injury. He was moving with an obvious limp at the end of the game.
Kansas will need to find a way to stop P.J. Haggerty without fouling him. Haggerty averages 23.4 points per game, and he gets to the free-throw line a lot—7.3 times per game.
