The Kansas basketball team took its second Big 12 loss on Saturday against West Virginia on the road. They wasted an eight-point lead in the second half by allowing the Mountaineers to go on a 22-2 run. KU never recovered.

This second-half collapse is similar to the one at home against TCU, when they gave up an 18-3 against the Horned Frogs. In that game, the Jayhawks recovered with an amazing comeback late in the game, and they eventually won the game in overtime. Against West Virginia, there was no Allen Fieldhouse crowd to motivate Kansas.

Things aren’t going to get easier for KU. Iowa State is coming to town. The Cyclones are undefeated and ranked third in the nation in the AP poll. Unless KU can drum up some more of that Allen Fieldhouse magic, the Jayhawks might just get pummeled by the Cyclones.

Kansas vs. Iowa State: Betting odds

College basketball betting lines aren’t made available until the day before the game. This article will be updated when those are released.

Projected Kansas starting lineup vs. Iowa State

It will most likely be the same starting lineup as it has been for the last three games. The question now is if Daarryn Peterson will ever finish a game at Kansas. He’s yet to gut it out long enough to be in the game at the end when it really matters.

  • Darryn Peterson
  • Melvin Council Jr.
  • Tre White
  • Bryson Tiller
  • Flory Bidunga

Bill Self is going to need to find a way to get this team on track. The talent is there, but the constant uncertainty that seems to always be surrounding Peterson has obviously derailed this team. Self has to get them playing together and for each other again.
