The opening of the official Kansas basketball season is finally here! The Jayhawks will host the Green Bay Phoenix to start the season.
KU won both of its exhibition games against Louisville and Fort Hays State, and is now ready to start the season. The Phoenex will serve as a warm-up for the Kansas clash with North Carolina next week.
Darryn Peterson missed the exhibition against Fort Hays State with cramping issues, but will hopefully be ready to go on Monday against the Phoenix.

Projected Kansas starting lineup vs Green Bay
Assuming that freshman star Darryn Peterson will be over his cramping issues, this is the projected starting lineup for the Kansas Jayhawks against the Green Bay Phoenix, based on the exhibition games.
- Darryn Peterson
- Melvin Council Jr.
- Kohl Rosario
- Tre White
- Flory Bindunga
It wouldn’t be a shock if head coach Bill Self decided to use a more veteran starting lineup to start the regular season. Rosario played well enough against Fort Hays State, but was a non-factor against Louisville. It would be no surprise if Self went with Elmarko Jackson, who played well in both games, in that spot. If Peterson is unable to go, Jackson most likely would start in his place.
It feels like Kansas basketball is underrated to start the season this year after being grossly overrated the two previous seasons. It isn’t a bad thing for them to be the underdog early and have to fight their way to the top. That is the task at hand for the Jayhawks, and this is the first test on the road to the Final Four and a National Championship. Rock Chalk.
