The Kansas basketball team is fresh off an impressive road exhibition win over Louisville on Friday. Now, the Jayhawks play a more traditional, small in-state exhibition opponent in Fort Hays State.

Against Louisville, Darryn Peterson paced the Jayhawks with 24 points in the first half and 26 overall. Others who had good nights were Bryson Tiller, Tre White, Elmarko Jackson, Flory Bidunga, and, despite a poor shooting game, Melvin Council Jr.

This matchup will be a lot different. The opposition isn’t a Division One school, let alone ranked 11th. The KU players will need to feed off the home crowd more than they did in the hostile environment in Louisville.

It will be interesting to see if Corbin Allen, Samis Calderon, and Nginyu Ngala play against Fort Hays State, as they did not see action. It would also be nice to see more of Paul Mbiya and Jayden Dawson.

Kansas starting lineup vs Fort Hays State exhibition

Self has not announced his starting lineup, but it won’t be surprising if there is at least one change from the Louisville game. Freshman guard Kohl Rosario didn’t play very well, tallying just one rebound and no points. Self may choose to give him another opportunity, or he might start Elmarko Jackson. Peterson, White Council, and Bidunga will probably retain their spots.

The goal of this exhibition is to build confidence, foster chemistry, and avoid injuries. The Phog fans will get their first true look at this year’s exciting team and have fun.
