The Kansas basketball team may have been looking ahead to its Monday night matchup against the top-ranked and undefeated Arizona Wildcats when they took the floor against Utah on Saturday. The Jayhawks won easily enough, but some players often looked disconnected and disinterested.

Ultimately, both KU and Arizona won their warm-up games, setting up another exciting contest for both teams. The Wildcats look unbeatable at times, so this clash in the Phog may be the best chance for the entire Big 12 to notch a win against Arizona.

KU will need a better performance from star Darryn Peterson against Arizona than he gave against Utah. The freshman scored 14, but he was just one-for-five from three-point range. He had two steals, but he pulled down just three rebounds, and he committed three fouls and three turnovers during his 34 minutes.

Luckily, Melvin Council Jr. provided enough leadership to push Kansas to the win. The senior scored 11 and added five rebounds and six assists. Flory Bidunga almost notched a rare triple-double. He had 17 points, 10 rebounds, and an outstanding seven blocked shots.

Now the scene is set. The Jayhawks will need to play their best game of the year if they hope to pull off the upset over Arizona. The Wildcats are clearly the best team in the nation, but KU is special at home and is riding a seven-game winning streak of their own. It should be an incredible atmosphere and game.
