Allen Fieldhouse has always been known to be a hostile environment for anyone who steps foot on the court not wearing a Kansas uniform. The student section is electric, and very rarely is there an empty seat in the entire house. Opposing teams are usually screamed at for 40 minutes on the court, and "The Phog," as they call themselves, knows how to give Kansas the home-court advantage.

The Jayhawks will take the court again in Allen Fieldhouse this weekend against No. 13 BYU, and this isn't just an ordinary game at The Phog; this is the 1,000th game for Allen Fieldhouse. The game fits the occasion as No. 14 Kansas will take on No. 13 BYU with College GameDay in town for the festivities.

The students are certainly taking the matchup seriously as they started camping out in the building starting at 6:00 a.m. on Tuesday, days before the game is even set to be played. The Phog is filled with students who are ready to be loud and proud for the Jayhawks in hopes of taking down a very good Cougars team.

No. 14 BYU vs. No. 13 Kansas could have huge Big 12 ramifications for winnign team

Right now, Kansas and BYU are both sitting with five wins and two losses in Big 12 play, tying them with Iowa State for third in the conference. Based on the overall record and the head-to-head matchup, the Jayhawks do have the edge over the Cyclones.

Neither team is out of the running for the regular-season title in the Big 12, even though the Arizona Wildcats have a firm grasp on the lead in the conference at 8-0 in Big 12 play. The winner of this game will stay in the running for that title, while the loser will fall further back and have to hope for losses from other teams.

Kansas has a huge couple of days coming up, starting with the matchup against BYU and then quickly turning around to play No. 11 Texas Tech in Lubbock on Monday. That game will be huge for the Jayhawks, who are hoping to make up some ground in this Big 12 race.
