When Oklahoma State head coach Mike Gundy was relieved of his duties in late September, a number of commits took steps away from the program and looked elsewhere. One of those was three-star running back Kaydin Jones.

Jones decommitted from the Cowboys the same day Gundy was let go, and on October 9th, Jones committed to the Jayhawks. On Halloween, Jones made an official visit to Lawrence, and things looked settled for a running back room that was soon to lose a stalwart in Daniel Hishaw Jr.

However, minutes ago, Jones decommitted from the Jayhawks and flipped his commitment back to Oklahoma State, who recently hired North Texas head coach Eric Morris as their newest leader.

Jones is a class of 2026 recruit and is listed as a three-star by both Rivals and 247Sports.

Rivals.com: The Jenks, Oklahoma, native is touted as the nation’s 508th-best prospect in the country, the 31st-ranked running back, and the No. 7 player from Oklahoma.

247Sports: The 5-foot-10, 175-pound running back is listed as the 24th-ranked running back and the No. 6 player from Oklahoma.

As it stands, according to 247Sports, the Jayhawks' 2026 class sits 50th in the nation, with their highest-ranked prospect being four-star offensive tackle Kaden Snyder. Snyder is touted as the nation’s 28th-best offensive tackle and Kansas’ third-best in-state prospect.

Kansas was most recently famous on the wrong end of another decommitment, as the Jayhawks saw four-star JJ Dunnigan, a safety ranked as the nation’s 92nd-ranked player in the class of 2026, decommit and then took his talents to the ACC for the Miami Hurricanes.
