The Kansas Jayhawks are days away from creating history as they are set to embark on college football’s first-ever game inside the historic Wembley Stadium, kicking off Big 12 play against the Arizona State Sun Devils.
With this comes several different factors and questions left without a clear favorite answer, including trying to find the projected winner between the Sun Devils and the Jayhawks.
Overall, ESPN Analytics gives ASU a 53.5% chance of leaving victors, squaring Kansas off at a 46.5% chance of improving to 2-1 on the season.
Ultimately, there will be several battles across the field that will go on to decide this historic matchup, but perhaps none will be more impactful than wide receivers Reed Harris and Nik McMillan.

The two wideouts have had superb starts to the season
Starting with the opposition, Harris has quickly asserted himself as the primary wide receiver for Kenny Dillingham’s side. Harris spent the first three years of college ball in the ACC with the Boston College Eagles. Harris experienced a mute freshman season, tallying just one reception for 2 yards. However, over his next 25 games, he recorded 1,159 yards, 9 touchdowns, and 56 catches.
Harris then entered the portal rated as the nation’s No. 2 transfer wideout and as the 9th-rated transfer overall, being graded as a 96-overall, headlining Arizona State’s portal class.
So far in his two appearances this season, Harris has notched 326 yards and 4 touchdowns.
Against Morgan State in the Sun Devils’ season opener, Harris went for 137 yards across 6 receptions for two scores. Just a week later, against the Texas A&M Aggies, Harris compiled 9 receptions for 189 yards and another two touchdown grabs.
On the KU side stands the exciting McMillan, who has quickly become a gem of a portal snag for the Jayhawks.
McMillan hails from Buffalo, where last season saw the 3-star transfer go from a relatively unproven pass catcher to a group-of-six star. In 2025, McMillan reeled in 62 catches for 981 yards and 3 touchdowns. McMillan finished the season with six straight games of over 100 yards, and 7 games total.
Despite Kansas’ 1-1 start, McMillan has been KU’s most reliable player on the offensive side of the ball, compiling 182 yards across 8 receptions so far this season with 2 touchdowns to his name as well.
A great aspect of McMillan’s game is his ability to break the game through short, intermediate and deep routes. Even if the ball isn’t always thrown to him, he has been able to get himself into acres of space.
With Kansas’ rushing offense struggling in the week two loss to Missouri in the Border Showdown, there is no question that there is added emphasis on the play of the Jayhawks’ wideouts, and with fellow top wide receiver Cam Pickett still warming back to the field, McMillan will have to be quarterback Isaiah Marshall’s No. 1 target
