Kansas must go all in for Tyran Stokes after McDonalds All-American Game performance

The still undecided 2026 No. 1 overall recruit had himself a night at the McDonald's All-American Game, further proving Kansas can't let him slip through the cracks.

The McDonald's All-American Game gave fans and college basketball programs everything they could have wanted and more. Some of the most elite high school players, both committed and uncommitted, showed out on the court, especially one uncommitted Tyran Stokes.

Stokes has certainly taken his time on his commitment, making it feel like the only two choices are Kentucky and Kansas. At times, Stokes has leaned more towards the Wildcats, but as of late, the Jayhawks seem to have been the favorite.

Stokes competed in the McDonald's All-American on Tuesday night, and his performance probably has the Jayhawks thinking there is no way they can let him go to Kentucky. Stokes finished with 12 points, 10 rebounds, and two assists, showing he can do it all.

Stokes also showed off his defense quite a bit with a few blocks, including the one in the video below, where his athleticism allowed him to get back on the ball and get the block.

Tyran Stokes will have to make a decision soon with so much looming at Kansas

There are still some big decisions to be made, both by Stokes and Kansas, well, at least by Bill Self. The longtime Jayhawks head coach shocked everyone by alluding to the fact that he could call it a career after Kansas fell to St. John's in the second round of the NCAA Tournament. Since that admission, Kansas fans have been on pins and needles awaiting his answer.

Self said he needed time to think it over, just like Stokes has needed time to decide which college to take his basketball talent to. If Self were to hang it up, it could seriously impact Stokes' decision of picking Kansas and send him right into the arms of Kentucky.

While Self can stick around for just one player, it would be nice if the Jayhawks could land a talent like Stokes, and Self might be the answer to that. There are many things Kansas fans are waiting to hear about, and the Jayhawks need to do everything in their power to get Stokes in the building and keep him there.
