The NCAA Transfer Portal is something that can throw several surprises at you. One second, your team could be seeing 25 players entering the portal and leaving your program. Next, they could be landing their archrival’s star running back.

Minutes ago, the Kansas Jayhawks pulled off a great coup when they secured Kansas State star Dylan Edwards from the nearby Wildcats.

Edwards just finished his third year of collegiate football; however, it was a shortened one as injuries hindered him, and by November 7th, he made the shock decision to leave the program

Edwards started his career at Colorado under first-year head coach Deion Sanders, where he totaled 321 yards across 12 games for 26.8 yards per game and one rushing touchdown; however, Edwards was used extensively in the passing game, as he caught 36 receptions and ultimately added another four touchdowns.

Edwards then decided to transfer to fellow Big 12 school Kansas State, where his sophomore season saw him rush for 546 yards, including 7.4 yards per attempt, and five rushing touchdowns, add another two through the air, and the Derby, Kansas, native rose as one of the nation’s most efficient runners.

In Chris Klieman’s final season at the helm of the Wildcats, Edwards only got 34 attempts, where he managed 205 yards and two touchdowns for an average of six yards per carry.

Edwards appeared in the 2024 Sunflower Showdown, where his 80 scrimmage yards were enough in Kansas State’s narrow 29-27 win over the Jayhawks.
