Seconds ago, Luke Barnett of Mater Dei announced his commitment to the Kansas Jayhawks. The 6-foot-4 shooting guard announced a couple of days ago that he was down to his final few schools with Kansas, Miami, and UNLV.

Barnett is ranked by 247Sports as the No. 144 player in the nation, the 21st shooting guard, and the No. 17 player from California.

Here is a brief excerpt from Adam Finkelstein on Barnett. Finkelstein serves as the Director of Scouting at 247Sports

“...He took over 70% of his shots from behind the arc in EYBL play and while he made 37% of his total threes, he knocked down a whopping 47% of his unguarded catch-and-shoot attempts. He has extreme gravity as a floor-spacer and understands how to leverage it by utilizing the deep corner, instinctively finding open space around the arc, and just generally understanding spacing and offensive structure.”

Barnett joins five-star Taylen Kinney, who is tabbed as the nation’s 13th overall prospect and the No. 1 point guard, Davion Adkins, who is the nation’s 34th-ranked player and No. 3 center, and Trent Perry. Perry currently ranks as the No. 120th best player in the country and the 39th-ranked small forward from the class of 2026.

Coming from Mater Dei holds a lot of expectations; the school has produced a number of talents. The most notable being Stanley Johnson, who was the No. 3 player in the country in the class of 2014. On3 has three three-stars, 10 four-stars, and Johnson being the lone five-star according to the recruiting service, all attending the California high school
