Kansas basketball fans rightfully celebrated the commitment of Darryn Peterson earlier this month. The 5-star recruit has been on the Jayhawks' radar for over a year and continues to shine wherever he plays. He became the first high school athlete to ever sign an NIL deal with Adidas last year.

His school season started the day after he announced his pledge to the Jayhawks. After transferring to Prolific Prep over the offseason, Peterson has unsurprisingly been an absolute stud on his new team. Through four games, he already looks like a player who could make a significant impact at the college level. The Ohio native posted a lucrative stat line on Saturday against Fort Erie Academy:

Darryn Peterson off to strong start in senior year at Prolific Prep

Peterson looked like a man amongst boys when he and his squad took on the Toronto-based prep school. He posted 38 points, six assists, four rebounds, and seven steals in an 89-81 win. They moved onto a 4-0 record on the season.

The highly touted prospect has now played at three schools in as many years. He started playing high school ball at his hometown school in Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio, before transferring to Huntington Prep for his junior year. One year later, Peterson announced he would be taking his talents to Northern California at Prolific Prep.

Peterson was the first player to commit to KU's 2025 class. 247 Sports rates him the third-best high schooler Bill Self has nabbed in the recruiting era. The only players with higher grades coming into college were Andrew Wiggins and Josh Jackson, and Peterson is expected to follow in their footsteps as a one-and-done.

While his career at Prolific Prep has just begun, Peterson is quickly proving why he is the No. 3 player in the country. Kansas basketball fans should be excited to track his progress as the season moves along. We will make sure to keep our readers updated with some of his best performances.
