The Kansas basketball team had played to a shaky start in Big 12 play, dropping a home contest against West Virginia and falling to Iowa State on the road. While the Jayhawks still have plenty of work to do, they bounced back with a win over K-State in the first edition of the Sunflower Showdown this year.
Even with KJ Adams sidelined with a shoulder injury, there was never a doubt that KU would pull away in the end. Kansas defeated Wildcats 84-74 in a game the opponent never led in.
Kansas basketball bounces back with victory over K-State
It was one of the better offensive showings of the season, albeit versus one of the conference's weakest teams. Hunter Dickinson and Zeke Mayo led the way, scoring a combined 49 points on 19-for-32 shooting. Dajuan Harris also added 15, while Flory Bidunga played a season-high 25 minutes in his first collegiate start.
K-State played fairly well for what they are. In fact, they tied ISU for the most points scored against the Jayhawks in conference play. However, KU's 55.4% field goal percentage as a team proved to be too much.
Kansas finished the week 1-1, and the next two matchups will come at TCU on Wednesday and against Houston in Allen Fieldhouse next weekend. Hopefully, the Jayhawks can jump ahead in the Big 12 standings, where they are currently tied for fourth place with Texas Tech.
