Kansas basketball to compete against top program in 2027 at unique venue
It is no secret that Kansas basketball schedules some of the most challenging nonconference schedules every year. Bill Self has never been afraid to assign his team tough games early in the season — the Jayhawks are already playing a handful of blue bloods through November and December.
No one knows where KU will be three years from now, but we do know who one of its opponents will be. The Hall-of-Fame announced that Indiana and Kansas would square off in a doubleheader in November 2027. However, the venue may surprise you.
Kansas basketball to play Indiana at Allegiant Stadium in 2027
In what should be a unique showing, Kansas and Indiana are expected to play a basketball game at Allegiant Stadium in Paradise, Nevada. Why is that unique? Because Allegiant Stadium is the home of the Las Vegas Raiders and normally operates as a football field. It opened in 2020 and even serves as the home field for the UNLV Rebels, a team Kansas football lost to in September.
The game will occur near the beginning of the regular season on Nov. 12 between two of the best college basketball programs in the game. They will not be the only teams taking the court that day, as fellow Big 12 powerhouse Arizona and Duke will also compete at the same venue.
Allegiant Stadium is set to host the 2028 Final Four. It is the first time that the Final Four will head to Las Vegas in NCAA history. According to Jon Rothstein, the game is supposed to be a precursor to the Big Dance.
Kansas played Indiana in its nonconference slate in 2022 and 2023, coming out victorious twice. This should reinvigorate the rivalry. The official announcement was initially released on Sunday by KU Athletics and the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame.
