The good fortune continues for the Kansas football coaching staff as they recently landed commitments from six high school recruits in the past week, catapulting the 2026 class into the top five in the country.
Lawrence High School linebacker Joshua Galbreath was the first of the new additions to announce his commitment to KU. Rated as a three-star prospect and the No. 5 player in Kansas (according to Rivals), Galbreath picked KU over offers from KSU, Iowa State, Michigan, and several other Big Ten schools.
Two days later, another top 10 Kansas recruit committed to the Jayhawks in the form of 6-foot-5 offensive lineman Kaden Snyder. The three-star offensive tackle from Salina ranked as the No. 10 player in the Sunflower State chose KU over KSU and Wisconsin.
With Galbreath and Snyder on board, KU has now secured commitments from five of the top 10 rated players in Kansas in what has easily become the best in-state recruiting class for the Jayhawks in more than a decade.
Other players to have committed to KU this past week include three-star offensive lineman Malachi Mills (Westfield, Indiana), three-star wide receiver Corbin Glasco (Denton, Texas), four-star defensive end Landen Anderson (Edmond, Oklahoma), and highly coveted three-star tight end Jack Utz (Platte City, Missouri).
Utz is ranked as the No. 5 player in Missouri and chose KU over offers from Missouri, KSU, Iowa State, Nebraska, Colorado, and many others.
While recruiting news and rankings can change by the hour, the Jayhawks’ 2026 recruiting class – which now features 11 total commitments from recruits across the country – currently sits at No. 5 in the country, behind only Oregon, Texas A&M, USC, and Penn State in that order.
The work and the effort that head coach Lance Leipold and his staff have put forward on the recruiting trail thus far is nothing short of remarkable, and it shows how far this program has come in the last few years and what KU has to offer.
The staff still has a lot of work to do to add to this class and secure the commitments they have received through signing day, but early signs are pointing to this being one of the best recruiting classes in Kansas football history.
