With the new semester just getting started inside the confines of Kansas University, the Jayhawks’ football program is already looking well into the future. Along with the flux of 30 incomings and 25 outgoings, the program recently confirmed its schedule for next season.

The Jayhawks will open at home against Long Island University on September 4th, before hosting the Missouri Tigers on September 12th. Following that will be Kansas’ trip to Wembley Stadium in London, England, to take on Arizona State, which is set for September 19th, in what will be Wembley’s first collegiate football game in the Union Jack Classic.

Week four will be Kansas’ bye week, before they get to host Middle Tennessee State on October 3rd.

The next two weeks will be away days as Lance Leipold’s team will first travel to Salt Lake City to take on the Utes (October 10th), before a trip to Manhattan for the Sunflower Showdown in week seven (October 17th).

The Jayhawks will then alternate home and away for every other week for the rest of the season in games that include Baylor (H), October 24th, TCU (A) October 31st, UCF (H) November 7th, WVU (A), November 14th, BYU (H), and Oklahoma State away in Stillwater to finish off the regular season on November 28th.

First thoughts

When you look at these teams in a vacuum, leaving the nit-picking of every team's final roster, and the combination of schemes and alterations each program will be installing over the upcoming Summer, this schedule, well, there is no two ways about it, is pretty difficult.

Kansas is set to face three teams that finished the season in the AP Top 25: No. 14 Utah, No. 25 TCU, and No. 11 BYU.

Now, like we said, we can’t look too far into these matchups as things will inevitably change throughout the offseason with each opponent, but there is no real respite at home for the Jayhawks next Fall. Kansas will only get to host three conference games next season: Baylor, UCF, and BYU.
