2025 will be a big final season for Kansas football quarterback Jalon Daniels as he returns for his sixth season in the crimson and blue. Two years ago, he was named the Big preseason Player of the Year, but injuries derailed that season. Last year, mistakes late in halves and at the end of games cost him and the Jayhawks several wins.
Daniels did bounce back late in the season to beat three ranked teams in a row, but the damage was already done. This season is shaping up to be a redemption season for Daniels, one that could result in a lasting legacy for the program.
There is, however, one significant difference. The pass catchers he’s spent most of his career with at Kansas are gone. Lucas Grimes, Lawrence Arnold, Quentin Skinner, tight end Jared Casey, and running back Devin Neal have all used up their eligibility and have moved on.
How is Kansas football star Jalon Daniel building rapport with all of his new receivers?
During his time in the spotlight at the Big 12 media days, Daniels mentioned that several of his new wide receivers visited him in California to work out with their quarterback and to build chemistry.
The receivers that joined Daniels were a couple of little-used returnees, Doug Emilien and Keaton Kubecks, as well as several newcomers, including Levi Wentz, Bryson Canty, Emmanuel Henderson, and Cam Pickett.
Daniels was happy to spend time with his receivers, not only learning how to work well with them but also how to connect with them on a personal level. Hopefully, these workouts will pay off in a big way for Daniels and his Jayhawk teammates when the season commences on Aug. 23 against Fresno State in the newly renovated David Booth Kansas Memorial Stadium.
