The Kansas football program saw its season end early after a disappointing 5-7 finish. Despite entering the campaign with sky-high expectations, Lance Leipold's Jayhawks did not live up to the hype in 2024.
Things certainly didn't look much easier looking toward next season, as more than half of the team's starters and multiple All-Big 12 players were lost to graduation. The coaching staff had plenty of work to do with next year's roster.
Thankfully, Leipold and Co. have wasted no time attacking the transfer portal. KU has reeled in a number of impressive transfers, receiving six commitments in just three days. It has been an incredible week for the Jayhawks.
Kansas football lands a half dozen transfers in only a few days
The pledges came rolling in on Friday, with former Oklahoma State safety Lyrik Rawls committing to the Jayhawks. A fifth-year senior who played considerable snaps with the Cowboys, Rawls will fill a necessary void in the secondary. Meanwhile, Missouri State transfer DeAndre Harper announced his college decision later that day. The offensive lineman will bolster KU's work in the trenches in 2025.
On Sunday, the coaching staff brought in three more players, the first being South Alabama kicker Laith Marjan. A career 94.1% field goal kicker, Marjan could kick for Kansas next year given how poor the position has been in recent years. Ball State transfer Cam Pickett also committed to Kansas over the weekend. The sophomore wideout caught 49 balls for 528 yards this past season.
The star of the show came that same day when former Alabama defensive back Jahlil Hurley announced he'd be joining the Jayhawks. A former top-50 recruit, Hurley played at the SEC program for two years before entering the transfer portal. He chose KU over the likes of Missouri and Michigan State.
The sixth and final (to date) transfer addition committed on Monday. Ex-Tulsa offensive lineman Jack Tanner committed to Kansas after his official visit. It wrapped up a tremendous week for the program.
