Modern-day collegiate recruiting has shown anything but predictability.

In the era of NIL, it is becoming increasingly rare for most prospects to always have their hearts set on one team, at least according to reports.

For the class of 2026, while all but four recruits inside 247Sports’ top 20 have found their new homes, the nation’s most prized recruit, Tyran Stokes, has yet to commit anywhere.

Recent reports have leaned toward the possibility of Stokes landing at Allen Fieldhouse; the speculation is nowhere near concrete or finished, but it is worth noting that the 6-foot-7 forward has been given a “medium” vote of confidence by 247.

ESPN produces exciting college comparisons for Stokes

In Paul Biancardi’s college comps article, Biancardi named players akin to certain prospects’ attributes. Stokes was listed similarly to Malik Reneau of Miami, AJ Dybantsa of BYU, and Yaxel Lendeborg of Michigan.

Reneau carved a consistent role for the Indiana Hoosiers over the last three seasons before taking the risk, jumping ship to Coral Gables. In his sole season with the Hurricanes, Reneau has averaged 19.1 points per game, along with 6.7 rebounds and 2.2 assists, on a phenomenal 55.7% field goal rate from the field.

Biancardi compares the two thanks to their near-identical height and weight.

Dybantsa is a name KU fans will know quite well, as his battle with Kansas guard Darryn Peterson has created a back-and-forth bout for who is going to take the title of No. 1 in the 2026 NBA Draft.

Dybantsa currently notches 24.8 points per game, which tops the nation. Yet Biancardi compares the two in transition, believing that the pair both can move up and down the court with ease.

Lastly lies Lendeborg. Biancardi notes each of their ability to rebound and get to the free throw line.

Lendeborg has been a cog for the Wolverines in their conquest to get to the top of the college basketball food chain for the first time since the 1988-89 season. Over the course of Lendeborg's career, which spans both UAB and Michigan, the 6-foot-9 forward has averaged 9.9 rebounds per game, including 7.2 for the No. 3 side in the nation

If Stokes can reach the heights of any of these players, it is a certainty that Allen Fieldhouse will embrace the Rainier Beach product.
