With all the talk centered around Kansas football, it is easy to forget a star-studded team is taking to the hardwood in early November when Green Bay comes to Allen Fieldhouse. Before the Jayhawks endure a daunting Big 12 schedule, where they will look to take back the crown from newcomers Houston, Kansas must take on fellow title contenders UNC, Duke, and UConn in what is one of the hardest non-conference schedules in the nation.

Yet, after looking past some of the nation’s biggest contenders, Kansas must weave through a Big 12 conference stacked full of contenders.

Earlier today, the Big 12 announced the Big Monday ESPN matchups; here is where the Jayhawks placed.

Last season, Texas Tech defeated the Jayhawks in the sole matchup between the two when the Red Raiders won a narrow 78-73 matchup in early March, which began a small two-game skid that preceded a loss to another team mentioned in the post. Texas Tech takes on the Jayhawks on February 2nd at 8 PM CT.

Just a week later, at 8 PM CT, Bill Self’s team will be taking on the Arizona Wildcats. Last season, the two sides split the matchups. The first, a Kansas 83-76 win, the second, a Wildcat win in the Big 12 Tournament when Arizona dismantled Kansas in an 88-77 Arizona win.

In what will be one of the most anticipated matchups that collegiate basketball has to offer is when Kansas takes on the Houston Cougars on February 23rd at 8 PM CT at the Fieldhouse

Last season, Houston took both of the matchups between the two sides, the first a double-overtime 92-86 Jayhawk loss. The second was another narrow Kansas loss when Kansas fell by six points again, this time just days before the Big 12 tournament, in what resulted in a 65-59 Cougar win.
