Tyran Stokes made his way to the Allen Fieldhouse for Kansas' win over BYU and the Jayhawk faithful made sure to show him plenty of love.
Stokes, the No. 1 high school recruit in the country, is going to choose between Kansas, Kentucky and Oregon. He is a unique talent that has court maturity far beyond his years and with NBA size (6-foot-7, 230 pounds) and a high basketball IQ.
So it's no surprise that he's highly coveted by Bill Self.

Stokes was in Kansas on an unofficial visit, which explains why Self couldn't be too chatty and actually couldn't speak to him at all. However, he had a chance to watch the Jayhawks' current top freshman, Darryn Peterson pour in 18 points in the 90-82 victory over the Cougars.
In an earlier interview, Stokes told Rivals that he wanted to be in a place that he could call home and the fans in 'The Phog' wanted to do their best to make him feel like he was around family. While Oregon is in the picture for Stokes' recruitment, most feel like it's going to come down to Kansas and Kentucky and both sides feel good about their chances to land the elite prospect.
“Iwant to play for someone who really appreciates me outside of the court,” Stokes said in the interview. “Someone who is going to talk with me just about how things are going and not just talk basketball all the time. I’m looking for a home, a place that I’m going to feel comfortable.”
The next step for Stokes will be playing in the McDonald's All-American Game on March 31 from Desert Diamond Arena in Glendale, Arizona. Stokes, a Seattle-area prospect, will be on the West roster along with fellow undecided top-15 national prospects Caleb Holt, Christian Collins and Brandon McCoy.
