This weekend is one of the hottest recruiting weekends of the season. Some of the nation’s most-touted recruits in the class of 2027 are finding their new homes and the Kansas Jayhawks are among the several schools welcoming in the future stars.
Below is an updated list of every KU commit, which will be updated over the coming hours with each passing commitment. Ratings of recruits are supplied by 247Sports.
Clarence Johnson Jr, Edge, Three-star (89)
Johnson held power-conference offers from Miami, Kansas State, Georgia Tech, Auburn, Missouri, Boston College and Northwestern. Johnson joins an exciting room filled with talents like David Santiago, Adrian Holley, Leroy Harris III, and Dak Brinkley III.
Maliek Brown, WR, Three-star (87)
The 6-foot-3 wideout notched power-conference offers from Texas Tech, Michigan State, Kentucky, Kansas State, and Baylor.
The Kansas Jayhawks’ receiving core has been in a massive state of flux over the past few years, so bringing in someone like Brown as a freshman could help give the Jayhawks some stability in a transfer-laden room over the coming years.
Nazir Pitchford, CB, Three-star (86)
Pitchford is Kansas’ first cornerback recruit in the class of 2027. Pitchford is currently ranked as Florida’s No. 91 recruit. Pitchford visited Kansas this month and held offers from the likes of UCF, Louisville, Boston College, Kansas State, North Carolina and Pittsburgh.
Of the nine current corners on the roster, four of them are upperclassmen and just Chris McCorkle and Trey Brown are freshmen.
Tavares Powell, WR, Three-star (86)
Like Maliek Brown, Powell is a player to look for in the future to settle a wideout core that is ever-changing. Powell held offers from West Virginia, Pittsburgh, North Carolina, Mississippi State, Michigan State, Kentucky, Utah and Wisconsin, proving to be a smart bit of recruiting from Leipold and Co.
Elliot Neff, ATH, NA
Neff is currently showing out on both sides of the ball, playing in coverage on defense and at wideout on offense. With offers from Penn State, Pittsburgh and Syracuse on the table. Neff will be a name to watch out for no matter the position he chooses while a Jayhawks
As of publishing, the Jayhawks currently hold the nation’s No. 32 overall class ranking, No. 4 in the Big 12, launching an impressive start for Leipold.
