Since Kansas basketball had its season ended by Arkansas in the Round of 32, the Jayhawks’ coaching staff has set its sights on several players in the transfer portal. According to several outlets, Iowa Hawkeye Josh Dix has been listed as a name to watch.
After rumors about his interest in KU rose, they were confirmed with a report from The Kansas City Star on Thursday. Gary Bedore revealed that the standout guard would take a visit to campus over the weekend, marking the first visit a transfer has taken to Lawrence thus far.

A 6-foot-6 incoming senior, Dix reportedly arrived in Lawrence for a two-day visit on Thursday. He will spend time with Bill Self and Co. before making his decision in the coming weeks.
In 2024-25, Dix was one of the most accurate 3-pointer shooters in the Big Ten. He averaged 14.4 points, 3.2 rebounds, and 2.8 assists on a 50.7%/42.2%/76.6% slash line. The Council Bluffs native connected on a career-high 2.0 threes per game.
Jayhawk fans should not rule out the possibility of Dix heading elsewhere. Derek Piper, the lead basketball reporter for Illini Inquirer, confirmed that Dix would be in Champaign this weekend for a visit. He is obviously surveying all of his options in the portal, which is to be expected.
While incoming freshman Darryn Peterson is going to take over primary ball-handling duties, Dix would provide some much-needed shot-creating alongside the young phenom. The only other player with facilitating experience at the college level is Elmarko Jackson, who had a rocky first year at KU before missing this past season with a torn patellar tendon.
Bringing a player like Dix on board would make the Jayhawks a much better team next year. He has a diverse offensive skill set and has proven he can contribute against higher levels of competition.
