Basketball school? Not so fast.

The Kansas Jayhawks are off to an unexpectedly hot start to the 2025 baseball season. Dan Fitzgerald’s squad won the first eight games of the campaign and capped off Thursday night with an unforgettable rally in the ninth inning.

Lawrence is not known as a baseball town, with only one Men's College World Series appearance in program history. However, the Jayhawks’ scorching start to the season has fans bought into the team. During Friday’s loss to Omaha, Kansas supporters went viral for their rowdy celebrations in the crowd.

Kansas fans have reinvigorated the Jayhawks’ baseball program

One day after Dariel Osoria walked off Kansas' home opener with a grand slam, Jayhawk nation knew it had to show up to the next game.

A 8-0 start to the year is a special feat, but it isn’t often that KU packs Hoglund Ballpark as it did over the past two days. The stadium erupted when the team hit back-to-back-to-back home runs in the fourth inning, leading to fans showering beer all over each other and cheering in raucous fashion.

While the Jayhawks suffered their first defeat of the season to Omaha, the fanbase is fully invested in the program. KU returns to the diamond Saturday afternoon in Wichita as it looks to take the edge in the four-game series.
