Amidst the usual turmoil of any given offseason, the Kansas football program has experienced a positive shift in momentum. The Jayhawks are bringing back fan-favorite Andy Kotelnicki in an associate head coach role, have seen a positive portal, and are set to continue work on the famous Gateway District project.
David Booth Kansas Memorial is set to see some more changes
In a press release via Kansas Athletics, earlier this afternoon, ”The east side of The Booth will be partially complete for the 2026 season, meaning there will be reduced capacity for the season. The east side is scheduled to be complete prior to the 2027 season with The Booth back at full capacity. In addition for 2026, a new grandstand in the south will have student seating and a new area dedicated to the Marching Jayhawks.”

The release confirms that the Gateway District is set to be fully completed by 2028, with additional construction to be done following the 2026 and 2027 seasons.
Last season was the first where fans got to see a developing project, and the Jayhawks got to open up last season at home against the Fresno State Bulldogs in what was a 31-7 week zero win over the Mountain West side.
Kansas finished the season with a 4-3 record at home, which included wins against Fresno State, Wagner, West Virginia, and Oklahoma State.
Earlier this week, Kansas announced its upcoming fixtures for the 2026 season. At home, those include LIU, Missouri, Middle Tennessee, Baylor, UCF, and BYU.
