With the 2025-26 NBA season getting underway, Philadelphia 76ers star Joel Embiid has been getting back to fitness after missing out on the majority of the 2024-25 season due to injury.

The former Jayhawk has returned well, including a 25-point outing in a 139-134 overtime win against the Washington Wizards. Yet last night showed the MVP-level form that Embiid is capable of. Embiid totaled a monster 29 points, six rebounds, four assists, one block, two turnovers, and three fouls. The most impressive part of Embiid’s performances lies in the fact that the former MVP did it all in 26 minutes and with an efficient 10-16 rate from the field.

The 76ers ultimately took down the Toronto Raptors in a 130-120 win. On the season, Embiid has averaged 19.7 points, 5.5 rebounds, 3.3 assists, 1.5 blocks, and 2.7 turnovers. Embiid has shot an efficent 46% from the field and a 32.1% from beyond the arc.

At Kansas, the world knew of Embiid's potential. The former five-star center and No. 13 recruit joined a class that saw Andrew Wiggins and Wayne Selden Jr. join Bill Self’s squad.

While things did not pan out as Kansas managed just a 25-10 record, Embiid saw only 28 games of action as a back injury stunted his development ahead of the end-of-season stretch. In Embiid’s sole season, the seven-foot center marked 11.2 points, 2.6 blocks, 8.1 rebounds, on a remarkable 62.6% field goal rate.

Embiid was just ruled out of the 76ers’ next game, for rest, a home game against the on-fire Detroit Pistons, who have a 7-2 record.
