With the NBA trade deadline rapidly approaching this Thursday, the trade market has been ramping up in unexpected and unpredictable fashion.
On Wednesday afternoon, the Toronto Raptors, Brooklyn Nets, and Los Angeles Clippers agreed to a three-team deal, headlined by NBA veteran Chris Paul.
Toronto may be unsure what they’re doing with Paul at the moment, but one thing that’s already certain is that with this deal, two national-champion Jayhawks are being reunited in Brooklyn: Ochai Agbaji and Jalen Wilson.
Agbaji and Wilson were part of Bill Self’s 2021–22 national title-winning team at Kansas. This marks their first reunion since their college days, now as professionals in the biggest city in the world.
Agbaji, 25, has had the opportunity to play alongside former Jayhawk Gradey Dick over the past few seasons, but will now get the chance to play alongside one of his actual former teammates from KU.
Wilson, 25, has already been a part of the Nets’ roster since entering the league in 2023. Now in his third season with Brooklyn, he’ll have a familiar face by his side.
After both Agbaji and Wilson had sensational seasons this past year, neither has seen the jump they might have hoped for coming into this season. Hopefully, their reunion can help get each other back on track.
Now, with two of the most beloved Jayhawks of all time on their roster, are the Brooklyn Nets the new favorite NBA team among Jayhawk Nation?
