Another former Kansas basketball player has landed at a new school. Guard Elmarko Jackson will be going to Georgetown next season. He joins Flory Bidunga (Louisville), Jamari McDowell (Wake Forest), and Bryson Tiller (Missouri, ew!) as Jayhawks who entered the transfer portal and found new homes.
Things just never worked out as hoped for Jackson at KU, though it wasn't lacking desire and heart. He was a McDonald's All-American who was ranked as the 20th best prospect by 247Sports when he committed to Kansas.
With that pedigree, expectations were high for him at KU. He struggled throughout his freshman year. He started for the first half of that season but wasn't able to perform consistently. After redshirting the next year with an injury, he filled a key bench role at Kansas this past season.

What will Georgetown get with former Kansas player Elmarko Jackson?
As a freshman, Jackson averaged 4.3 points per game, 1.4 rebounds, 1.7 assists, and 1.5 turnovers. Last season, those numbers improved slightly to 4.8 points, 1.8 rebounds, 1.4 assists, and 1.0 turnovers per outing.
While those numbers won't blow anyone away, he often provided positives that won't show up in a box score. He always played hard, making things happen with heart and hustle. He was quick to hit the floor for loose balls, and he is a solid defensive player.
He is also an excellent free-throw shooter. He ends his KU career making 80.4 percent of his charity attempts. That includes a fantastic 82.5 percent this past season.
He's also an improving three-point shooter. After hitting on only 26.7 percent of his shots beyond the arc, he made 37.2 percent as a sophomore.
Jackson is also a terrific athlete who showed flashes of potential in his time at Kansas. During both of his seasons here, he deferred to other players, but in a different situation, it is easy to see him as a double-digit scorer.
KU will miss his hustle, because he was a player that no one doubted his pride in being a Jayhawk. He wanted to be at KU and loved wearing the crimson and blue. That attitude seems to be slowly disappearing from the game, but there is little doubt he will play just as hard and be just as dedicated to Georgetown as he was at KU. That is the kind of player the Hoyas are getting in Elmarko Jackson.
