Flory Bidunga's reported list of transfer spots is both good and bad for Kansas

The Kansas Jayhawks are set to lose big man Flory Bidunga. Hopefully, it will be to the NBA Draft, but as of right now, that seems unlikely

When Flory Bidunga announced his intention to enter the transfer portal, he quickly became every team’s top target. Bidunga’s ability to make opponents' offenses reshape their game plans on a nightly basis proved to be a pivotal reason why Kansas’ opponents' field goal rate sat at just 38.6%, the second-best in the entire nation

Bidunga’s ability to guard every position on the court from all angles is the biggest reason his draft stock has made him a potential late first-round pick.

Bidunga’s list of suitors proves he is worth his weight in gold

Jeff Goodman of the Field of 68 recently revealed the most likely destinations for Bidunga as it stands.

Conflicting reports paint an interesting story

On Monday night, 247Sports had logged a prediction for Bidunga to land with the Texas Tech Red Raiders. Things have apparently since cooled with Duke, Michigan, St. John’s, and Louisville now leading the race.

If there are any silver linings to Bidunga’s departure, they come in the form of hopefully not having to face him again. In a dream world, Bidunga completes the draft process and finds himself becoming a centerpiece in the Association next season, and Kansas fans can go without having any chance of taking him on.

Yet with so much emphasis on an extensive list of teams vying for the former five-star and top-ranked portal player, unless Bidunga lands a much higher draft projection, he may stay in the collegiate game, just not with the Jayhawks.

The Wolverines have recently assembled a team stockpiled with transfers en route to their first national championship since 1989. Rick Pitino and the Red Storm were recently spearheaded by Zuby Ejiofor, a former Jayhawk who was the first player since Doug McDermott to win the Big East Player of the Year in a unanimous decision.

Pat Kelsey and the resurgent Cardinals are currently seeing three power forwards exit the program, meaning there could be a need for one of the nation’s top big men.

Lastly, the Duke Blue Devils have come up short in back-to-back seasons, and the acquisition of a talent like Bidunga could very easily gift Jon Scheyer his first national title as Duke head coach.

If Kansas was to face any of these teams next season by the time March rolls around, it feels unlikely they woulc be able to push past their former big man

Only time will tell what Bidunga is set to do. On the bright side, it doesn’t currently feel like he will be on his way to any Big 12 rival.
