Minutes ago, it was announced that top international big man Sayon Keita had taken an official visit to Kansas, according to Jonathan Givony of Draft Express.

Keita stands at 7-foot even according Eurobasket. NBA Draft room analyzed the young Keita.

"Keita is a long, lean and mobile big man with great natural tools and athleticism and flashes good upside ability. He’s mostly a paint player who scores with his back to the basket, on dunks and put-backs and impacts the game on the boards.

"Has very good mobility and changes ends well. Has some ability to handle the ball and should develop his face-up skills and expand his offensive game in time.

"Defends the rim well and has upside as a defender. Isn’t always the most disciplined on defense and will have to refine his technique and understanding.

"Isn’t the most flashy player but puts in a lot of work in the paint and has a big impact on the game."

Today marked the first of six visits for Keita, with trips to Indiana, Kentucky, Duke, UNC, and UConn incoming over the next week.

How could the presence of Keita help the Jayhawks?

Whether or not Keita classes to 2026 or stays at 2027 he will be a top prospect regardless, his exceptional height will be a big help to a Jayhawk team that prioritizes rebounds as Kansas topped the Big 12 in defensive rebounds per game with a 28 rebound per game mark, while finishing third in the conference in combined rebounds per game at 38.5.

Keita's best performance came in last year's Adidas Next Generation Tournament, where Keita marked 24 points on a superb 10-12 mark with 13 total rebounds in a 101-48 win over ALBA Berlin.

Final thoughts

Last year was a struggling one for a Kansas team that had underwhelmed for its second season running. The Jayhawks marked a 21-13 record before being bounced out of the NCAA Tournament in the first round thanks to John Calipari's Arkansas in what was a 70-72 loss.

There is much hope in the stacked class Kansas has brought in with the addition of 247Sports No.1 prospect Darryn Peterson, along with elite talents Kohl Rosario, Melvin Council Jr., Corbin Allen, Samis Calderon, and fellow big man Paul Mbiya, a 6-foot-11 center.
