Coming out of high school Levi Wentz was a defensive back heading towards Old Dominion, Wentz had just come off a season where he totaled 45 tackles, nine pass breakups, two interceptions and two tackles for loss, earning all-conference and all-district honors.

Yet in 2022, Wentz had been converted to wideout and registered a reception for 42 yards in the Monarchs' 27-20 loss to the Jaguars. Wentz then moved to the University of Albany where in 2023, Wentz played in eight games and finished with one touchdown totaling 153 yards on 12 receptions with 218 return yards to follow suit.

Last season was where Wentz broke out as a receiver to watch as Wentz appeared in all 12 games, reeling in 40 receptions for 621 yards and one touchdown. There were three big performances for Wentz last season. The first against Idaho, where Wentz notched five catches for 114 yards and a touchdown. The second against Bryant, where Wentz tallied 106 yards. The last being a nine-catch 138-yard game against Rhode Island.

Overall, the Great Danes finished the season with an underwhelming 4-8 record. Wentz then moved to Kansas where he is set for a big role according to head coach Lance Leipold who spoke with the media on Monday, where a large part of the conversation was over the Kansas depth chart.

Now you may notice the big "OR" tag assigned next to Wentz. This essentially means that Wentz is set for valuable sets but not as many as Keaton Kubecka who is listed above Wentz. At least that is what is inferred from Leipold's quote on Monday when discussing the offensive line.

"I have to see those as rotational right now, and that's the way Daryl [Agpalsa] sees it. The way it's listed is the direction we'll end up probably starting at this point, but both, those guys not to say the others won't rotate, but those will be more designated rotation right off the bat."

Kansas' first chance to see Wentz in action is this Saturday as the Fresno State Bulldogs travel to David Booth Kansas Memorial Stadium in what will be a week zero game giving the Jayhawks a big chance to set the record straight after Leipold's team finished last season 5-7 missing out on a bowl game.
