Justice Finkley is one of the many high-level transfers that has been recently added to this Kansas squad that is under a revitalization with coach Lance Leipold. The Jayhawks saw 28 transfer come into the program to go with 16 incoming freshman enrollees. 247Sports ranks the Kansas transfer class as the 39th-best in the nation. Finkley comes to the Jayhawks ranked as a .8600 transfer edge-rusher.

Finkley came from Hewitt-Trussville High School as a four-star edge rusher while being ranked as the 107th-ranked prospect in the nation as he committed to the Texas Longhorns.

As a member of Texas, Finkley made 12 appearances in his freshman season, seven tackles. The following season was where Finkley really made his mark as a member of Steve Sarkisian's squad. Finkley appeared in all 14 games as Texas fell in the College Football Playoff Semifinal to eventual runner-ups, the Washington Huskies.

Finkley totaled 14 tackles, three tackles for loss, two sacks and one forced fumble on the season. Last season, Finkley saw minutes in six games for the Longhorns, getting snaps against Colorado State, Michigan, University of Texas San Antonio, the University of Louisiana Monroe, and the University of Florida.

On Monday, Kansas head football coach Lance Leipold spoke with the media where he relayed the depth chart heading into this weekend.

Partnering Finkley on the opposite end is Dean Miller. Miller is a fellow transfer, though has been with the program since 2023 and is moving into his redshirt senior season.

For those looking to get their first glimpse of Finkley, Kansas takes on Mountain West side Fresno State this Saturday as head coach Lance Leipold is looking to lead Kansas onto their third bowl season with Leipold learning Kansas to two bowl seasons in his fifth season under Leipold.
