Coming out of high school, wide receiver Cam Pickett was listed with just four scholarships including Eastern Illinois, Howard, Illinois State and finally Ball State.

Pickett did not see immediate action heading to the Mid-American Conference during the 2022 and 2023 seasons, yet when Pickett was given valuable opportunities, you see he made an impact. Pickett totaled 49 receptions for 528 yards and two touchdowns.

Pickett ranked 137th in the nation last season with receptions, showing his ability to put up good receiving numbers overall, despite finishing last season 3-9.

There were a few performances worth noting from Pickett last season. The first, an electric 119-yard game in a 42-21 loss to the Bobcats, where Pickett reeled in nine receptions. The second being where Pickett found 74 yards and a touchdown despite Buffalo taking down the Cardinals in a 51-48 overtime loss.

Now, one thing yet to be mentioned is Pickett's ability to run the ball. Pickett showed 170 yards on the ground with 17 rushes averaging 10 yards a carry. Now, obviously Pickett will be listed as a wideout, but do not be surprised if you see Pickett total getting the occasional carry on a trick play to break a game open.

This past Monday, head football coach Lance Leipold spoke with the media and one of the biggest topics was the depth chart.

Now Pickett is listed with an "OR" tag which to sum up Leipold means that wideout Doug Emilien is ahead of Pickett, but Pickett will be used in certain sets he just likely will not get as many snaps as Emilien.

The first chance for Kansas fans to see the Jayhawks is well just hours away as Kansas is set to take on the Fresno State Bulldogs this Saturday as Kansas was fortunate to be awarded a week zero game at 5:30 PM CT.
