In just a few minutes, the No. 9 Kansas Jayhawks will be tipping off against the No. 1 Arizona Wildcats, in what is assured to be a gargantuan matchup between possibly the nation’s two most in-form teams.
The Jayhawks are in the midst of a seven-game winning run, where guard Darryn Peterson provided what could be argued as the team’s most important win during the aforementioned stretch, where Peterson knocked down two threes in the clutch to take down the No. 13 Texas Tech Red Raiders in a 64-61 win. However, there is newfound confirmation of Peterson’s availability
Darryn Peterson has fallen sick ahead of the Wildcats
As Kansas took to the court for warmups, the former five-star guard did not appear, and has not since the time of publishing, with the media just now learning that Peterson has fallen ill with “flu-like symptoms.”

An up-and-down career
Peterson has played just 13 games this season, thanks to hamstring tightness, cramping issues, and a recently endured sprained ankle, all of which have led the former five-star to undergo a stop-start season thus far.
Prior to Monday night, Peterson had actually played 30+ minutes in Kansas’ previous two games, including a game-high 34 minutes in the Jayhawks’ 71-59 win over Utah.
This is a massive miss for the Jayhawks as Peterson held the potential to unlock an Arizona defense that currently allows 67.6 points per game, 30th-best in the country.
Peterson currently averages 20.5 points per game, 4.2 rebounds, and 1.7 assists on 48.9% from the field.
Tipoff is set for 8 p.m. CT with streaming available on ESPN.
