Darryn Peterson pre-draft workout video could help get the No. 1 pick hype train rolling

The NBA can be a fresh start for players after maybe a tough time in college, or just wanting to step outside of the box they were put in. Darryn Peterson, he is certainly ready for a fresh start in the NBA after just one year at Kansas.

Peterson ended up losing a lot in his one year at Kansas. He lost confidence in his play, wondering when the extreme cramping would come on after a scary scene before the season starter. He also lost being the No. 1 pick in the draft, being surpassed by AJ Dybantsa.

The great thing about the NBA, though? Nothing is certain, and Peterson isn't completely out of the running to be that top pick. With a solid performance at the NBA Combine, Peterson has inched his way back into the conversation, but a recent workout video will probably also help his standing.

The video above shows Peterson working in the gym, and yes, it should be acknowledged that it isn't like he is playing against other NBA players or NBA prospects, but it can't be denied that the vintage Peterson looks to be coming out.

During his lone college basketball season, Peterson looked to have lost his edge. He wasn't getting the basket and finishing like he used to. He just didn't have as much of a spark as he used to, which made him just a volatile high school recruit. There were injuries and a cramping problem, but many didn't know just how bad it was.

Peterson had a full-body cramp before the season started that actually sent him to the emergency room, and that ended up holding him back. Whenever a cramp would come on in a game, Peterson pulled himself out for fear of the severe full-body cramping happening again. Now that it is known it was all due to high doses of creatine, Peterson is adamant that it is under control.

Unfortunately, the damage was done during his college season. Many didn't feel they could trust the young star to be on the court consistently, but the video above can start to erase some of that doubt. Peterson can be the explosive, volatile player he once was. He can be an elite mid-range and three-point shooter, but also be on the ball and get to the basket.

The Washington Wizards have the first pick in the NBA Draft after winning the NBA Lottery, and while they need a good-sized forward like Dybantsa, a solid guard who can help handle the ball and get the offense started would also be beneficial.

Peterson is showing he still deserves to be that No. 1 pick, and while his college career may not be the best show of that, seeing what he is doing now certainly does.
