Darryn Peterson has done a lot of things for the Kansas Jayhawks. He has brought talent to the court, and he has also brought a lot of media attention with his availability problems, but now he might be bringing a five-star recruit to Lawrence.

Five-star guard Gabe Nesmith is a player on Overtime Elite in Atlanta, Georgia, currently, but before that, he once played for Prolific Prep in Ft Lauderdale, Florida, with Peterson. The two were pretty close teammates, and since Peterson has been at Kansas, he has really talked up Bill Self and the Jayhawks program to Nesmith.

"My guy Darryn told me that Bill Self is on him real hard and just that they make him a better player," Nesmith said in an interview with the Kansas City Star back in October. "That definitely tells you something. I know how good of a player he is and how serious he is about his career. So I know that they’re definitely doing something completely right [at KU]."

Nesmith is currently a five-star recruit in the Class of 2027, so he has some time to decide his recruitment, but it seems like Peterson has him thinking a lot about Lawrence.

5-star guard Gabe Nesmith to make a visit to Kansas for rivalry matchup vs. Kansas State

Nesmith and Peterson are going to be together again this weekend when Kansas faces off against rival Kansas State, as the five-star prospect is making a visit to Allen Fieldhouse. Nesmith will have a front row seat to everything Peterson has been learning from Self as he watches the Jayhawks take on the Wildcats.

Kansas is obviously not the only team after the star guard, as other top programs such as Auburn, NC State, Georgia, Tennessee, and others are working for a commitment from Nesmith. With time in his recruitment, there could be more teams that join the mix, but Kansas seems to be leading the way so far.
