Coming off a loss to Cincinnati, where head coach Bill Self stood in front of the student section camping out the matchup against No. 5 Houston and apologized for the level of play the Jayhawks showed, Kansas really showed out on Monday night. Big Monday in Allen Fieldhouse is just different as Kansas is now 41-0 under Self when they play on the occasion.
Houston never really stood a chance when you think about it, with the 40-0 record the Jayhawks had on Big Monday in that building, and the last opponent to test it was No. 1 Arizona, which the Cougars fell to on Saturday night. Houston had never lost three games in a row under head coach Kelvin Sampson, and now that they can't claim that anymore.
Sampson clearly was unhappy with his team's performance against the Jayhawks, as he claimed many times post-game that they simply didn't play well. However, even after a 13-point loss that looked closer than the game really was for most of the second half, Sampson felt the need to throw some shade at the Jayhawks.
"Kansas is one of those where you just never know," Sampson said in his post-game press conference.

Darryn Peterson's reaction?
"Dang. I don't like that." 👀 pic.twitter.com/3xb4JEhrnG
Darryn Peterson didn't take too kindly to Sampson's post-game comments on Kansas
Sampson clearly seems to think Kansas is an up-and-down team, and sure, there have been some moments for the Jayhawks this season, but when it comes to the big game, they typically show up big. Kansas was able to beat a team that Houston just lost to, and now with this win, the Jayhawks are in front of the Cougars in the Big 12 standings.
After Sampson made his comments on Kansas, Melvin Council Jr., game leader Tre White, and Darryn Peterson all spoke to the media, and Peterson asked about the comment the Houston head coach made. It seemed like the freshman wanted to know what Sampson meant by his comment.
After the reporters told him, Peterson didn't like it all too much, and it seemed to fuel him a bit as he walked out of the room. If there is anything the rest of the college basketball world should be afraid of, it is Peterson with a chip on his shoulder. With the talent he has, giving him bulletin board material just seems like a bad idea, as he can go out and tear the court up with his play.
