The Kansas basketball program still has several roster spots to fill before finalizing its team for the 2025-26 season. Behind ballyhooed freshman Darryn Peterson, head coach Bill Self brought back big man Flory Bidunga and added multiple transfers, but there is still work to be done in Lawrence.

While most people thought the Jayhawks' 2025 recruiting class was wrapped up, a recent report suggests that KU could be interested in a top-rated international player. According to The Kansas City Star, Kansas and North Carolina are among the new schools involved in Dame Sarr's recruitment.

Dame Sarr could be an intriguing project for Kansas basketball

Originally from Italy, Sarr is a raw 18-year-old gushing with potential. The 6-foot-6 guard spent the past two seasons playing for FC Barcelona in Spain, and he caught the eyes of scouts during the Nike Hoop Summit practices.

While Sarr is viewed as an NBA talent, he appears to have his sights set on the college route for at least one year.

Sarr had long been connected to Illinois, but its recent addition of Andrej Stojaković may signal that the Fighting Illini are easing their pursuit. UNC and Oregon are other schools involved with Sarr, though it remains to be seen who currently leads the race to land him.

Here is the scouting report NBA Draft Room gave Sarr:

"Sarr is an athletic 6-6 wing who is still growing into his frame but flashes big time upside ability. Needs to polish up his shooting form and become a better 3pt shooter... excels in the open court and getting downhill to the basket. Has a quick first step and is aggressive going to the rim. Can play above the rim, score through contact and also shows good passing vision on his drives to the hoop. Has a lot of talent and ability but is still unrefined. Can be a bit wild and careless with the ball."

He may not commit to a school like Kansas given its additions of more experienced guards like Tre White and Melvin Council Jr., but Sarr would be a fun prospect to follow if he chooses the Jayhawks.
