While Oklahoma State may not be duking it out amongst the elite of the Big 12, the Cowboys still have a lot to offer, as they themselves are looking to make a push to the NCAA Tournament. As it stands, Steve Lutz’s team currently sits with a strong 16-9 record, however their 4-8 record inside the Big 12 flashes warning signs as to why the Cowboys are considered “long shots” according to ESPN

However, with each game that ticks down the clock until the end of the regular season, the importance of every point and every opponent grows.

When previewing the Cowboys, Self pointed out the biggest threat Oklahoma State can offer Kansas on Wednesday

Oklahoma State can catch Kansas out

“Speed. You know, there two guards, zero, and one (Jaylen Curry and Kanye Clary). They're good, and they're fast.”

Curry averages 10.2 points per game this season having logged an average of 24.3 minutes per game, and a two-point field goal rate of 47.9%. Curry also adds 4.3 assists, 1.6 steals, and 3.2 rebounds.

Curry is a transfer from Massachusetts, where he logged 10.3 points, three assists, and 2.6 rebounds through his 60 games played.

Clary is a fellow transfer, having played at Mississippi State and Penn State, with his breakout 16.7 points per game season coming with the Nittany Lions in the 2023-24 season. Clary then moved to the SEC, where his production stalled at just 6.3 points per game, but the guard’s numbers have steadily improved, reaching 9.3 points per game in his senior season. Clary adds an elite playmaking eye, having averaged 5.1 assists and 1.4 steals.

And their other players are quick and athletic, but I'd say the biggest thing that stands out is their speed and their ability to make plays when nothing's there. They're really good at getting downhill.”

The Cowboys' offense is one of the most efficient in the nation, as their 84.7 points per game ranks 21st in the nation.

Tipoff is set for 8 p.m. CT with streaming available on Peacock.
