Well, some more positive transfer news has come in, as Charleston transfer center Christian Reeves announced his intentions to transfer to Kansas, marking the Jayhawks’ third commitment of the 2026 portal cycle.
The 7-foot-2 big from Charlotte began his career at Duke and has since made stops at Clemson and Charleston. The incoming senior is expected to split minutes at center with Paul Mbiya, who recently announced his return to KU.

Veteran center Christian Reeves has committed to Kansas and Bill Self
Last season, Reeves averaged 11.1 points, 7.8 rebounds, and 1.4 blocks per game, while shooting 65.4% from the field. His breakout performance came against Elon on Jan. 24 when he scored 29 points and grabbed 18 rebounds while missing just one shot. He went on to finish his junior season strong, which prompted interest from schools like KU.
He earned All-CAA honors and was also named to the CAA All-Defensive Team. While not the most highly touted portal addition, he’s an ideal fit for Self’s system and should be an important piece for the Jayhawks.
Reeves is an excellent two-way rebounder and an efficient scorer around the rim. He also serves as a defensive anchor, boasting a massive frame that can match up with anyone in the country. Despite his size, he has great ball control and rarely turns the ball over.
With the center position now filled, Bill Self will likely search for one more transfer guard who can shoot at a high and efficient rate. On top of that, Kansas is actively involved in the pursuit of Tyran Stokes, the nation’s top recruit. If KU is able to land him, it would immediately vault the Jayhawks into national contender status. With his recruitment growing quieter, a decision could be looming in the near future. For now, Kansas fans can celebrate the Reeves addition, as it's literally a big one.
