Kansas ended its Big 12 Tournament journey just one game shy of the championship, and while some may see that as a success, Jayhawks fans are not loving how their team played against the Houston Cougars. After easily taking care of the Cougars just a few weeks ago, Houston clearly was ready for revenge, and got it with a 69-47 blowout of the Jayhawks.

There were many things that went wrong for the Jayhawks against Kansas, one being Bryson Tiller, a redshirt freshman starter, who struggled early and even ended up getting benched for the second half. The upside, however, is that the Jayhawks' season is not over by a long shot, and there is still more work to do.

Bill Self knows March Madness can be a reset button for the Kansas Jayhawks

After the Jayhawks' loss to Houston, head coach Bill Self knew that even though it wasn't the game they wanted to play, and Kansas wanted a Big 12 title, everything resets on Selection Sunday. With the selection show happening on Sunday, Kansas will be given a new opportunity to make a statement.

"I would've loved to played longer and be more competitive tonight, but the reality is on Sunday is a new day that everyone is 0-0," Self said.

There were some things that Kansas fans liked seeing against Houston, though, and the biggest is that Darryn Peterson is still playing consistent minutes. After playing a season-high 37 against TCU, it was fantastic seeing him back on the court for even 28 the following night.

Peterson was the leading scorer for both games the Jayhawks played after getting the double bye in the tournament. The young freshman seems to be getting back on track at the right time for Kansas, and as Self has said, he can take a team very far.

Kansas will now await to see where they fall in the NCAA Tournament and what their road to hopefully another National Championship will be.
