It turned out to be a historic night at State Farm Arena on Tuesday night. The No. 1 Kansas Jayhawks took care of business against Michigan State, posting a 77-69 win. For head coach Bill Self, it was also a record-breaking victory for him.

At the top, Self stands alone with 591 career wins. He officially passed the one and only Phog Allen in the process. Self was all smiles after being made aware on the ESPN broadcast that he's now No. 1 on the list, but he made one thing quite clear: Phog is still without question the best to ever do it for Kansas even if Self is the new record holder:

Bill Self says Phog Allen is still the best coach ever for Kansas hoops

With how humble he is, it's no surprise that Self showed a ton of love to Allen following the final whistle. Not only that, but Self didn't take much credit for reaching this milestone with the Jayhawks. Nope, he's quick to give it elsewhere.

"It means I’m old and it means I’ve had a lot of really good players," Self said about reaching 591 wins with Kansas.

That quote right there surely made a lot of people laugh and smile. It's looking to be a memorable season for Kansas, as they're 3-0 to start the campaign and backing up their No. 1 spot in the rankings. Self is going to have his guys operating at a high level, something which has been the case ever since he took charge of the program back in 2003.
