Yesterday, when Kansas eventually marched past the Syracuse Orange, the Jayhawks, in an eventual 71-60 win, there was one noticeable difference in the already Darryn Peterson-less squad. Jamari McDowell had replaced freshman Kohl Roasario. McDowell is currently a redshirt sophomore, and Self raved about the guard after the Jayhawks’ opening Players Era win over the Notre Dame Fighting Irish.
In 34 minutes on Tuesday, McDowell followed up on his performance with an additional nine points with four rebounds and two assists, on 3-7 shooting.
"I thought that he played the best yesterday. Kohl [Rosario], he's been laboring. I just thought we'd give Kohl a different look to maybe come off the bench and not feel the pressure starting,” quoted head coach Bill Self following the win. “Kohl actually played better today. Tre made some hard layups and played really, really well the whole game. And Jamari was rock solid. He was steady out there for us."
Minutes ago, Kansas’ latest lineup was recently ahead of their matchup against the No. 17 Tennessee Volunteers, and McDowell was included again.
