Kansas head coach Bill Self wasn’t shy about last night’s game when he addressed the media following the 104-100 win over TCU.

After erasing a 16-point deficit and scoring a season-high 104 points, Self linked the comeback to a 2015 win over then-No. 20 West Virginia, when the then-No. 9 Jayhawks came back to win 76–69, claiming the team's 11th straight Big 12 regular season title.

“I think the probability to win tonight was probably less than the West Virginia game several years ago,” Self said. “That team was a one seed and won the league, and went to the final four.”

With just five seconds remaining in regulation, ESPN analytics gave the Jayhawks just a 2.8% chance to win.

"This team is unproven. And for them to stick it out and do it the way they did it, it was pretty cool. So the best thing to potentially happen tonight was we became a team.”

Against the Mountaineers in their second meeting of the 2015 season, the Jayhawks overcame an 18-point deficit after trailing 40-22 in a tremendously low-scoring contest, entering the break down 14 points with ground to make up.

Similar to Tuesday night’s win, the switch flipped in overtime. The Jayhawks outscored West Virginia 17-10 in the final five minutes of play.

Unlike West Virginia, TCU head coach Jamie Dixon and the Horned Frogs became the first team to score 100 points on the Jayhawks since 2020, and the first team to do it inside of Allen Fieldhouse since Oklahoma in 1990.
