The Kansas Jayhawks will see their first game action in over a week. Usually, the first game or two after the holiday break can be a bit shaky due to the rust factor for the players. That could mean the Jayhawks play a more static type of offense to avoid making mistakes. If that happens, I think it gives a huge boost to their All-American big man.
Hunter Dickinson Over 15 Points (-120)
Bill Self knows how to take advantage of a mismatch, and that is exactly what Dickinson has against West Virginia. The Mountaineers have a single rotation player that is taller than 6'8", and he only averages about 12 minutes in competitive games so far this season.
Dickinson has hit 15 points in seven of his 11 games so far this season. Of the four games that he went under that number, two were against very tall teams and the other two were blowout wins where he played less minutes than normal. The Jayhawks are a 13.5 point favorite against the Mountaineers, but conference play can lead to crazy things (like 6-5 Kansas State beating ranked Cincinnati last night). If Kansas were to win in blowout fashion, I imagine it will be due to a monster game from Dickinson. If it's a close game, then Dickinson should get his normal workload.
Hunter Dickinson Over 2 Assists (+145)
This one is more of a recency play. Dickinson's last three games have seen him collect 16 total assists, which is more than five per game. Even on the season, though, he is averaging just shy of three assists and has at least two in eight of 11 games. Two of those three games were early in the season, when he was still recovering from an offseason injury and the third was a dominating blowout win.
With West Virginia being massively undersized, I would be surprised if Dickinson doesn't draw a ton of double teams. That is a great opportunity for him to find open shooters and cutters. With guys like Zeke Mayo and David Coit finding their rhythm from the outside, it might only take a couple nice passes for Dickinson to hit this number.
