Kansas basketball is preparing for its latest run in the NCAA Tournament, but for Kansas basketball commits, some of its commits are preparing to play in the McDonald's All-American game, where they can showcase the talent that got them elite commitments to some of the best programs in the country.
The Jayhawks will have one commit competing in the high school All-American game, and that is five-star point guard Taylen Kinney out of Atlanta, Georgia. Kinney is Self's lone five-star recruit so far in the Class of 2026, but he is hoping to change that with a commitment from No. 1 overall recruit Tyran Stokes soon.
Kinney received his McDonald's All-American jersey before one of his games Tuesday night, and his maturity and excitement proved he is one of the good ones.
5-star PG Taylen Kinney could not be happier to get his McDonalds All-American jersey
Kinney proved not only is he a great one on the court, but he is a mature young man off the court as well. When receiving his jersey for the McDonald's All-American game, Kinney was all smiles and made sure to shake the hands of everyone there, introducing himself.
Once he got the jersey, he had to take his time to really soak it in, and once he got back to his warm-ups, he felt like he was on top of the world.

Kinney is going to be a huge playmaker for the Jayhawks next season, especially with Darryn Peterson heading to the NBA after this season. Kinney may have the chance to step right into the role Peterson has played for Kansas this season, just hopefully without all the missed time.
