The Kansas basketball team is gearing up for the 2024-25 campaign. Bill Self’s Jayhawks enter the year ranked No. 1 for the second season in a row — only this time, there is a new-look roster in Lawrence. A handful of transfers and returning starters round out this incredibly deep and talented squad.

Before the regular season kicks off, the Jayhawks will play a pair of scrimmages to tune up for the real games. Preseason play begins tonight at 8 p.m. CT against the Arkansas Razorbacks, the same team that eliminated Kansas from the NCAA Tournament in 2023. Only this time, coach John Calipari is at the helm in Fayetteville following his departure from Kentucky this offseason.

The game is being played to raise money for charity. Kansas will donate the scrimmage’s proceeds to the Fore The Kids Foundation in Kansas City. However, it will still be interesting to watch how the newcomers mesh with each other.

As the game approaches, we came up with three bold predictions that could come to fruition tonight. Without further adieu, let’s jump right into No. 1.
