3 alarming Kansas basketball stats in Jayhawks scrimmage loss to Arkansas
3. Charity stripe struggles — 4-for-10 from free throw line
As a basketball fan, nothing is more frustrating than watching a team that can’t knock down its free throws. The Jayhawk faithful had to suffer through that last year with a team that ranked right in the middle nationally in terms of free throw percentage (50th percentile).
If there were any takeaways from stats that actually matter from the scrimmage, this would be the biggest concern. While free throws are more difficult against a sold-out crowd in a tough road environment, that’s something Kansas’ players will deal with throughout conference play. Not good.
On paper, the 2024-25 Jayhawks should be better from the charity stripe, but that might not be the case. After all, Dickinson dropped nearly 20 percentage points from his best free throw shooting year at Michigan. Let’s cross our fingers and pray free throw shooting doesn’t become an issue again.
