Surf’s Up! Kansas basketball player ratings from A to Z from win over Chaminade

The Kansas basketball team had stretches where they played great and others when they struggled last night. They put the Chaminade Silverswords away in the second half with an 83-56 victory in the first round of the Maui Invitational. Next up is a top-5 battle against Marquette, who survived UCLA last night 71-69 thanks to a clutch late three. Here are our player ratings for KU’s victory.

Tier 1: Big Jays
1. Kevin McCullar
Kevin is not a vanilla baby, but he is a killer baby. Mr.-Do-It-All continues to do more and more each game. His senior rise has been fun to watch and he became the first player in Kansas basketball history to have back-to-back triple-doubles! In 35 minutes, Kevin filled the stat sheet with 22 points, 11 rebounds, 10 assists, three steals, and two blocks to go with five turnovers. Kev was 8-for-14 from the field and continued to be a defensive leader, locking down his opponent.
2. Hunter Dickinson
Big Hunt is just unguardable. He is that dude! Hunter is showing why all the hype was real on him being the best transfer player potentially ever. He has dominated the glass and paint consistently and efficiently. He was nearly perfect from the field, going 15-for-18 including 1-for-2 from 3-point range. He played 32 minutes and had 31 points, 11 rebounds, one assist, one turnover and two steals. Hunter continues to look like the Big 12 Player of the Year and a First Team All-American.
3. KJ Adams
KJ arrived in Hawaii late following the passing of his mom. He played with a heavy heart, and you could see the emotion and he looked tired at times. He is playing for something more this tournament and this season. The fact that he was even there and played with his brothers vaulted him to Big Jay status for the game. He had a decent game with eight points, one rebound, four assists, one steal, and one turnover. KJ was his usual efficient self, going 4-for-5 from the floor in his 26 minutes coming off the bench for the first time since his freshman year.
